Top 20 of 2012: 12. Leonard Cohen – Old Ideas

12. Leonard Cohen – Old Ideas

Leonard Cohen - Old IdeasDespite a 56-year career, Leonard Cohen‘s only put out 12 albums. That makes each of his releases a rare and special occasion. He doesn’t work at a feverish pace like Neil Young or The Men. Instead of putting out 30 good albums, he has created a handful of monumental ones.

And at 78, Cohen is still monumental. Old Ideas is arguably some of his best work. His age hardly comes into play, as he’s always had the soul and voice of a poet many years beyond himself.

Old Ideas is a beautiful album that reaffirms the singularity of a talent like Leonard Cohen.
